New App - May Prove Useful

Safari Brings VOD App to iOS Devices

Safari Montage has launched an iPhone and iPad app for its K-12 video-on-demand system. The app is free and is designed to work in conjunction with a Safari Montage server.
Safari Montage is a WAN-based VOD and digital media management system designed specifically for schools. It includes four-, eight- and 10-bay server configurations, a core content package with pre-loaded titles from educational video producers (National Geographic, Discovery Channel, Disney Education, and others), tools for creating and adding content, and a WAN manager for districts delivering content to schools.
The new app is designed as a companion to the full Safari Montage server. It supports Apple iOS-based devices like the iPhone and iPod touch and allows users to access digital media from the system, use their handhelds as input devices for assessments, and perform other tasks. It also lets users access Safari Montage's new Digital Curriculum Presenter module, announced this week at the FETC 2011 conference in Orlando, FL.
"Teachers and administrators can also access room device controls from anywhere in the classroom, providing great flexibility and management of resources," according to information released by the company. "Additionally, mobile integration in Safari Montage offers a cost-effective student response solution for formative assessment."
Safari Montage for iOS is available now. It requires a device running iOS 3.1 or later, as well as a configured Safari Montage server. Further information can be found here.
